Ouicraft: The Craft Beer Business

Project Objective

We were challenged to unearth a possible new business model in the craft beer industry. As a cohort, we were divided into three teams, with each team having a different focus – Producers, Retailers & Consumers. Our team looked at introducing a new service for beer consumers. At the end of the project, we pitched our idea to three VCs.

Solution

Armed with these insights, we went ahead and created 'Ouicraft'. Click through the gallery below to see the value proposition and user journey.

App Prototype

This is the sample app prototype that we pitched to VCs at the end of the project.

Roadmap & Testing assumptions

Below we identified a possible roadmap for Ouicraft along with our assumptions that we believe should go through quick yet effective rounds of testing.

Approach & Contribution

This was a relatively short project and hence our insights came predominantly from secondary research & not primary research. Below are few of the key approaches that we used. I took the lead in delivering the BMC and the Value Web framework.

Course Attributes & My Learning

This course was a 6 week 1.5 credit class taught by Adjunct Professor James Russell, Senior Director, Strategic Innovation at Salesforce. It was an excellent learning experience, even more so with my team members Jenni Schneiderman, Urba Mandrekar, Gustavo Cascio & Chieko Tazuke. Key takeaways from the course -

  • Opportunities for business model innovation & business models that work systemically
  • Defining a new business model MVP & identifying assumptions
  • Pitching a venture to win supporters & get funding
